GAME ON!

This year, ACMI is hosting GAME ON, The history of Video Games. I got a chance to visit this awesome exhibition a few weeks back and it was Sensational. This Exhibit will be on at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image until June. If you have a chance to get to Fed Square in Melbourne and can part with 15 dollars and a few hours I strongly recommend you go through it. They Have:
  • A Pong Machine
  • Space Invaders Machine
  • A room full of Retro Machines
  • Another room of Consol Machines.
  • Gaming in different Cultures
  • Concept Art and Sketches for Tomb Raider
  • A mini cinema showing great moments in Online Gaming
  • Another show of Machinima (Movies made from ingame play)
I managed to play the original Space Invaders machine and few of the others and some old school consoles, but i was mostly interested in the Concept Art and the Showings of Machinima and Online Gaming moments.

ACMI also have a great set of other activities going on to Coincide with Game On, Last week there was the Australian Championship Games, for Halo, Counterstrike, Dead or Alive and something else which i forget. There's a Wii Sports Championship coming up and a few Forums on Game reviewing, Censorship and of course, that old chestnut, Violence in Games.

I'll be heading along to a few of the festivities that happen on weekends (because some of us have to work during the week :P) Especially the Wii Sports weekend, which is free and because I Rock at Wii Bowling ;).
