Snow Leopard and the suckiness of Pages

I officially think that iWork Sucks.

Today, after using NeoOffice happily for more than a month I had to open up a file I had previously saved in pages. My trial has expired... and the document was a training script for work. So in the trial version of pages it seems that you cant save. Fair enough, but how exactly, am I going to get this precious data I saved in pages to NeoOffice with all of its wonderful formatting that I spent HOURS perfecting with Pages, less-than-perfect Style Sheets. GAHHHHHH!!!!!!

So, I've scoured the internet and no converter thus far, DESPITE the fact that its been pointed out several times on various forums, Pages actually opens up Microsoft Word 2008 formatted documents. I dont know what I'm going to do.

Anyway, in other ...slightly old news... the WWDC happened in San Fran as per usual and in Steve Jobs's Keynote he announced a successor to OS 10.5.... 10.6 Codenamed Snow Leopard... (great, my employer hasnt even bought me 10.5 yet and the next ones' already been announced)

And this is what the Official annoucement on the Apple site says about Snow Leopard
"Since 2001, Mac OS X has delivered more than a thousand innovative new features. With Snow Leopard, the next major version of the world’s most advanced operating system, Mac OS X changes more than its spots, it changes focus. Taking a break from adding new features, Snow Leopard — scheduled to ship in about a year — builds on Leopard’s enormous innovations by delivering a new generation of core software technologies that will streamline Mac OS X, enhance its performance, and set new standards for quality. Snow Leopard dramatically reduces the footprint of Mac OS X, making it even more efficient for users, and giving them back valuable hard drive space for their music and photos."

So, Less new features, more MultiCore Support and space saving apps.
Of course the RSS feeds are already going nuts with rumours about the apps and the space thats going to be saved. The big one is going to be Mail, which is currently abovet 287 mb when its installed and will be reduced to about 17mb when installed. I'm guessing this is all going be in aid of moveing to Solid State memory so the world can move on the Macbook Air type machines or the new Asus EEPC which is also tiny, light and runs solely on solid state memory.

Interesting move. Interesting move indeed.
