Inhuman yes, It's called an unbelievably restrictive IT Policy. Basically, Microsoft is king, everything else is outlawed.

I'm lucky, I still have a desktop, the next step in the monopoly is a thin client with terminal services. IT being the only people who can install programs into the terminal servers.

But, Necessity is the mother of invention. There are ways and means to get around most things.

I agree with all your points although Vista lasted about 1 day on this HP until my partner got sick of it. Still not going so well with the tablet bit and the keyboard has a nasty habit of placing the cursor in the middle of another unrelated row of text whilst i'm typing. But I've had a ball using it and its quite handy and My Fiance loves it. Does exactly what it says on the tin as they say.

I bought an HP Tablet earlier this year. It's my very first laptop ever. My sister bought an HP sometime ago, not a tablet and usually I wouldn't buy an HP. I'd been looking at buying something else, I had my eye on this Fujitsu.

Anyhow, when the time came the HP was the best value considering the specs and price and what I wanted. It came with Windows Vista which I still have running on it. I'm getting used ot it though I did prefer XP which is what I was used to.

Look, despite not really being into HPs and not having liked my sister's HP (she had a regular 15.4") I am very happy. Mr Coffee set it up for me and he is very familiar with computers, having owned and worked with many in his lifetime. He seemed to think it was such good value for money that he went off and bought one for himself, despite already owning a laptop, having a desktop, and having another free laptop from work already.

The minuses are: The battery life is not very long and it has Vista on it, which most people hate.

Pluses are it's quite fun as a tablet, The stylus is good and it has a lanyard (I heard that not all computers offer this it helps ensure you don't lose your stylus), I find the keyboard very friendly and it keeps cool and the screen is pretty good. As it's a 12" while it mightn't be the sharpest thing out there the size makes it look fairly sharp. And for the price I paid I think altogether it was good value.

I don't know that I got the same model as your fiance, as I bought it early this year and I think it was on special as it was a slightly going out of fashion model even then, I would say possibly I have an older version.

Anyway I like mine and I'm glad I got it when I did.
